Hudson River Rail Excursions –  2024

For 2024, Hudson River Rail is scheduling 50 day trips beginning and ending in New York City, and six overnight trips between New York and Chicago.

Passengers will travel in two former New York Central cars, observation Hickory Creek and tavern-lounge #43, attached to Amtrak trains.

Hickory Creek was built by Pullman-Standard in 1948 and carried the markers on the 20th Century Limited for many years. The car is fully restored and Amtrak-certified. NYC tavern-lounge #43 was built by the Budd Company in 1947 and was used primarily in the New York – Washington corridor. The car is fully restored and Amtrak-certified.

Several day trips in May, October, and November will be run in partnership with the National Park Service’s Trails & Rails program. Park Service personnel will be on board providing a narrated tour of the Hudson River Valley.

Overnight trips between New York and Chicago are planned for June and July.
