From June 27 to July 2, the Steam Car Network sponsored the – Podunk Parade – tour of Massachusetts, which included a rest and water stop at the Amherst Railway Society on July 1.
The age of the cars in this year’s tour ranged from 1899 to 1927. The event attracted local car enthusiasts, many of whom where on hand for this historic event.
The steam engine was born in the early 1700s, and powered most forms of transportation for over two centuries. Manufacturers such as Stanley, White, and Doble popularized steam cars in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
