The Amherst Railway Society is one of the most respected railroad organizations in the United States, and there are many benefits to joining this vibrant organization.

Membership Levels

Membership pricing effective: March 1, 2024

Prospective member 

A one-year non-renewable trial membership. Prospective members receive the newsletter, can attend monthly meetings, and receive one pass to the Railroad Hobby Show.

Prospective members do not have a vote, do not have access to the club library, and do not have access to the clubhouse outside of regularly scheduled events.

Dues: $30  Apply

Student member  

Membership for full-time students at any educational level. Student members receive the newsletter, can attend monthly meetings, can vote, have access to the club library, and receive one pass to the Railroad Hobby Show. 

Student members do not have access to the clubhouse outside of regularly scheduled events. 

Student status must be verified periodically.

Dues: $12  Apply

Standard member 

Regular membership for adults. Standard members receive the newsletter, can attend monthly meetings, can vote, have access to the club library, and receive one pass to the Railroad Hobby Show.

Standard members do not have access to the clubhouse outside of regularly scheduled events.

Dues: 1-year: $120 3-year: $300 5-year: $480 Apply

Family membership 

A single membership covering all family members that reside in the same household. Family members receive the newsletter, can attend monthly meetings, receive two votes, have access to the club library, and receive two passes to the Railroad Hobby Show.

Family members do not have access to the clubhouse outside of regularly scheduled events.

Dues: 1-year: $200 3-year: $500 5-year: $800 Apply

Honorary life membership 

Granted by the Board of Directors to recognize extraordinary service to the Amherst Railway Society over an extended period of time. Honorary life members receive the newsletter, can attend monthly meetings, can vote, have access to the club library, have access to the clubhouse outside of regularly scheduled events, and receive one pass to the Railroad Hobby Show.
