Annual Awards and Grants Program - How To Apply

Founders' Award

Submissions for the Founders' Award should be made AFTER May 1 and BEFORE June 30 by sending an e-mail WITH attachments to president@amherstrail.org. You will receive a confirmation of your submission within a few days. The Subject line should include the phrase "Founders' Award" and the name of the organization submitting the request. (For example: Founders' Award - Your Organization Name Here) The e-mail body should briefly describe the project. It should include the names, telephone numbers, and email addresses of two organization officers or members who can be available to receive the grant at the awards meeting in August. Include a ONE page attachment that fully describes the project and, if a continuing project, describes the progress to date. Include information on whether matching funds are available and the amount, other funding sources for the project, the estimated total cost of the project, funds requested from the Amherst Railway Society, and your IRS number. Include additional attachments (up to 5) for photos of the project or other ancillary information that will help the Board of Directors evaluate the project. Include as the last attachment a copy of your IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter.

As of January 1, 2017, the Amherst Railway Society is no longer accepting applications via mail. Send your application via e-mail to: president@amherstrail.org.
